Students will be learning the basic use of a mold and deckle to make several sheets of paper, additions to paper, use of the high deckle, pressing the paper and then drying the paper under pressure in the drying box. Mixing colored pulps and different techniques in making one and two sided paper, embedding objects into the paper and pouring long papers! This class is all about working 2-dimensionally and many of the techniques used in making art from handmade paper pulp. Once a student has taken this workshop, they may use the Hollander beater and work independently in the Paper Lab.
